Sony Mobile Upgrades 2011 Xperia Devices to Android 4.0 (ICS)

Sony Mobile has just announced the free OS upgrade to all of its Xperia 2011 devices to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The video above shows how the upgrade is going to take place on your Xperia devices.

With the OS upgrade, some devices’ performance may be affected but Sony Mobile promises these improvements:

  • Ease of Use
With Smart Dialer, you can save time when calling as your phonebook automatically find your friends as you type the name or number while Face Unlock lets you unlock your phone using face recognition.
  • Improved Communications
With Quick Response for Incoming Calls, you can send a pre-loaded message when rejecting a call at the middle of a meeting.
  • Improved Internet Experience
With Voice Search, searching a site is simply done by voicing the URL.
  • Sony Imaging Experience
Sony Mobile integrates its Sony Camera interfaces to its phones.

The upgrade is free and can be installed using a PC or MAC. It’s available for Xperia Arc, Xperia Arc S, Xperia Play, Xperia Neo and Neo V, Xperia Mini and Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, Xperia Active, Xperia Ray, Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman. These models are all running with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).
